Welcome
A Tennis Site for the After Forty Set
(pun intended)
A hearty welcome to After Forty Tennis—a site for the tennis enthusiast who happens to be over forty years of age. You don’t have to be over forty to use this site. Plenty of the information throughout will apply to all ages. Much of the fitness and nutrition sections apply not only to tennis but to the general population as a whole. The tennis how-to section is relevant to anyone who can swing a tennis racquet! The tennis strategies are smart moves for all ages. However, the main focus is for the middle-aged to senior athlete who wishes to improve his/her tennis game, to enjoy robust health throughout life and to understand the aging process and how to handle those inevitable ups and downs that come with the gray hairs and laugh lines.
Be sure and bookmark this site! It is constantly growing and more content is added on a regular basis. Better yet, sign up for the free newsletter so that you can enjoy articles on tennis, the aging process, exercise regimens, nutrtition and supplementation and more! You won’t be hearing from just one voice, either. Many articles are written by guest contributors who are known experts in their respective fields.
Tennis Fitness
In this area of the site, you will become familiar with the concepts of CST, or Circular Strength Training®. This health-first fitness protocol is tailor-made for athletes over the age of forty. (Actually, it is an excellent fitness regimen for anyone.) With an emphasis on joint mobility and “getting into flow,” CST is a great way to get into playing shape. If you are already fit, CST will take your fitness to another level you never thought possible. Tennis specific exercise regimens will be offered as well.
Tennis How-To/Strategy
This section is tennis-specific. Want to learn how to hit the windshield-wiper forehand? How about the proper technique for the one-handed backhand? Or the two-handed backhand? When do you go for the kill in doubles? If these are the questions you need answered, then this is the area of After Forty Tennis for you! Learn to play the modern method of tennis—just like the pros!
Tennis—A Sport for a Lifetime
The great sport of tennis is enjoyed by people of all ages. Yet you can’t enjoy what you can’t play! If you have joint problems, a big old gut (er, that’s to say, middle-aged spread), old sports injuries, etc., then you’re not likely to enjoy playing tennis, much less stick with it. However, you’ll find solutions to these maladies of the over forty crowd throughout this site. Go ahead and explore to find articles on proper stroke production, appropriate exercise programs, good nutrition and supplementation, and so much more!
